GENEVIÈVE BEHREND was born in Paris in 1881. After being widowed, she became Thomas Troward’s only private student. Troward is considered by many to be one of the most important proponents of the New Thought movement. Your Invisible Power is still widely read today, and considered Behrend’s most powerful work.

HENRY HARRISON BROWN was born in Massachusetts in 1840. He entered the work of mental healing and teaching in 1893 and in 1900 founded a San Francisco New Thought publication, NOW. He continued writing and lecturing until his death in 1918.

ROBERT COLLIER (1885 -1950) was born in St. Louis and became a foreign correspondent and, later, a mining engineer and advertising professional. After applying Universal Mind to rid himself of what was deemed an incurable illness, he became interested in New Thought. The Secret of the Ages came out of his studies and personal experiences applying New Thought to health and finances. ​

NEVILLE LANCELOT GODDARD (1905 – 1972), often referred to only as Neville, was a popular and well-loved American author who wrote about the use of imagination and spirituality in creating the optimal experience in life. He considered the Bible to be a collection of stories, parables, and metaphors rather than the literal word of an external divinity. ​

ERNEST HOLMES (1887 – 1960) was an American New Thought writer and teacher who founded the movement of Religious Science. He also founded Science of Mind magazine in 1927, which is still in publication today.

CHRISTIAN D. LARSON (1866 – 1962) was born in Iowa to Norwegian immigrants. He established Eternal Progress, a periodical dedicated to positive thinking and wrote numerous books on New Thought. He is considered my some to be one of the founders of the New Thought movement.

JOSEPH MURPHY  (1898 – 1981) was born in Ireland . He moved to the U.S. in his twenties and became a pharmacist and member of the Church of the Healing Christ. He later moved to Los Angeles, where he met Ernest Holmes. He subsequently became a minister of the Los Angeles Divine Science Church and obtained a PhD in Psychology.

FLORENCE SCOVEL SHINN (1871-1940) was born in Camden, New Jersey and worked as a book illustrator in the early 1900’s. She became a New Thought author in mid-life. Her best known work is The Game of Life and How to Play It, which she self-published in 1925.

RALPH WALDO TRINE (1866 – 1958) was an Illinois-born New Thought author and teacher who wrote 20 books. Considered one of the founding philosophers of the New Thought movement, and one of its most popular writers, his works had a profound impact on such writers as Ernest Holmes and Napoleon Hill.

THOMAS TROWARD (1847 – 1916) was an English judge who practiced in colonial India.  After retiring to England, he devoted his time to painting, writing, and studying sacred texts. He wrote a number of books on Mental Science and was a strong influence on such New Thought authors as Genevieve Behrend, Ernest Holmes, Emmett Fox, and Joseph Murphy.

WALLACE DELOIS WATTLES (1860–1911) was from humble beginnings on a farm in Illinois. Later, he became a student of the teachings of Emerson, the sayings of Jesus, and of New Thought leaders. He wrote numerous books, the most famous being The Science of Getting Rich, considered by many to be the best book on wealth ever written.
